What is a Kino ?
It's Québécois
Kino is an international movement founded in 1999 at Montréal. Participants, called “Kinoytes”, gather during Kino Kabarets to create short films within a limited time without any competition.
(Let’s be honest: they just never won the 48h Film Project.)
It's for everybody
Professionals, amateurs, and beginners who have never touched a camera before. Artists, talents, and people of all kinds!
(It’s fine if you don’t have talent — 99% of Kinoytes don’t either.)
and it rocks !
If one team no longer needs you, find another team and become a true Kinoyte!
(Yeah 🤘)
Do well with nothing, do better with little, and do it right now!

How the fudge it goes ?
1. Production meeting
At the first session, all participants introduce themselves one by one.
Then, and also for the next two sessions, project leads present their idea or script.
Teams are formed right after that, during an apéro (the most important part if you may).
2. Filming Begins!
In the limited time of the session, participants write, shoot, and edit their film together as a team.
They are fully autonomous and have access to a hosted venue to work and eat during the hours defined beforehand.
3. Screening
The films will be shown during a public screening open to everyone.
Just after, it will be time to celebrate with a concert, barbecue, and fresh beer! (the most important part if you may).
The next day, participants move on to the next country for the next session!

Why 111 ?
"Could it be that 1+1=11? And that’s beautiful.”
Jean-Claude Van Damme
“If 1+1=11, then 1+1+1=111. And that’s incredible.”
Jean-Claude Van Johnson, season 2
(Also, we decreted that it will be the 111th official Kino Kabaret in the world. Deal with it.)
Our values
Social cohesion
Respect is not optional. We are committed to creating a space free from racism, discrimination, sexist behavior, and every type of violence, where everyone can feel safe, welcomed, and heard, includes people with disabilities.
Collective spirit
Kino is a collective adventure: we come together to help one another, share ideas and skills, and build strong films and beautiful screenings for our public.
Respecting cultures
Each country has its own laws, customs, and cultural codes, and we ask everyone to respect them. You are, of course, free to question, critique, or parody them through your creations.

Where the hell did that idea come from ?
From a frog eater who doesn’t eat frogs. His name is Charlie Raud, a filmmaker and still photographer. He co-created the “Festival du Film Universitaire du Grand Est” (aka “Le FUDGE”) and a Kino Kabaret in Metz: “Kino Mirabilis”. Now, he wants to catch bigger frogs… uh… fish.

With wich stucture ?
A french association law 1901.
Cycl‑one organizes La Fête du Court‑Métrage de Metz, a regional event within a national framework.
Partnership opportunities
Venues for film teams
We are looking for venues in Luxembourg and Germany to host film teams during the Kabaret, including spaces for production meetings, writing sessions, editing, and post-production work.
Screening space
We are seeking a screening venue with a capacity of at least 150 seats. Ideally, the same venue could host both the teams’ daily work and the public screenings.
Communication support
We are looking for partners who can help spread the word about Kino 111 through their networks, platforms, and communities.
Financial support
We are seeking financial partners who would like to support an international creative event dedicated to collaboration, filmmaking, and cultural exchange.
